Tributes Flow for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt ready to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began spending more time together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, remarking that he could not remember "a single day without joy".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A court order issued a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the deaths, public figures shared different reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making divisive statements that were met with immediate backlash by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the critics recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an adviser could have intervened when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
