The tennis star celebrating a point
Aryna Sabalenka ended the year with an impressive twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.

The 27-year-old captured four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of Consistency

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She earned nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".
