Reports indicate that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their roles will likely occur in a future-set scene, as the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.
