Kai Trump can count on numerous well-known backers when she starts her LPGA debut on Thursday.

The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of a former US president, obtained a special exemption to participate at the Annika competition in Florida.

The former president, an avid golfer, possesses multiple international courses and regularly matches against Kai.

"He's pretty good. I can't say much but we have tight competitions," she stated.

She mentioned that Trump, who cannot attend, told her: "Just avoid anxiety."

"My grandpa essentially suggested to compete and relax," she continued.

"To me, he's simply a regular grandfather. He's not attending for the tournament. He's busy with world affairs, making him somewhat preoccupied."

Being non-professional, Kai has played in just three tournaments recently and maintains position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association standings.

However she's able to get advice from 15-time major champion, who is dating Vanessa.

"He is the best player in the world," the young golfer said.

"Additionally, he's a superior person. He suggested me to compete, have fun, and go with the flow."

She'll challenge some of the biggest names in women's golf at the Annika, featuring world number two the champion, British Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.

Officials commented that Kai's presence brings golf to different demographics, particularly reaching younger fans.

The young star has a massive following and has started a personal fashion and living brand.

She begins at 17:30 GMT.
