Palestinian-American Adolescent Released After Nine Months in Israeli Custody

An American-Palestinian youth having endured nine months in Israel's custody without being charged gained freedom.

Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 at the time of his arrest in February within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit while residing in Florida under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, claims he consistently denied.

American diplomatic officials applauded Mohammed's liberation.

Mohammed, now 16, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

They said he is visibly pale and thin, and experiencing medical problems developed during imprisonment.

Through an official statement, Mohammed's uncle spoke of the family's "immense relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Currently, we are focused on providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention necessary for his recovery following exposure to harsh conditions and brutal treatment for months."

US officials stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance for the Ibrahim family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance than the safety and security of American nationals"," the department emphasized.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to US authorities and the White House, demanding more be done for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, a father-of-four who runs an ice cream business from Florida, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations about rock throwing due to physical abuse.

He had not seen or communicated with his son since February, learning information solely what had happened to him via legal paperwork.

Mohammed was held without charge within Ofer penitentiary in the West Bank.

Additionally housing mature inmates, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities including killings.

There are around 350 Palestinian minors in security custody being held in Israeli jails, per correctional service statistics.

Several lack formal charges and human rights groups, including UN bodies, say some have suffered mistreatment and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, family representatives announced relatives would persist in advocating seeking justice for their relative family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen per medical officials died from beating by Israeli settlers following tensions in July.

Initially, the Israeli military said authorities were looking into reports a Palestinian civilian was deceased.

Both young men collaborated in the family ice cream shop based in Florida.

No one has been charged regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We demand United States leadership to ensure our family's safety," Mr Kadur said.
