The loved ones of teens lost after a tragic inferno at a venue in a Swiss winter destination are confronting an excruciating wait for confirmed information and pleading for clues about their children publicly.

The fire ripped through the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Verified footage depict the roof structure catching alight as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.

Authorities have stated that it could take considerable time to identify the fatalities of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and hurt another scores more. A spokesperson noted on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been identified, with efforts ongoing to locate the final individuals.

In the meantime, loved ones have been posting on social media to plead for clues about their missing relatives who were at the bar that fateful night.

The Italy's foreign ministry has confirmed that six of its nationals remain missing.
