The acclaimed UK star Helen Mirren, currently recipient of an Oscar, four Baftas, three Golden Globes, five Emmy Awards, plus a Tony, is set to add another major award to her collection: the DeMille Globes' lifetime honor.

Dame Helen, 80, previously made a dame during 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow in 2014, will accept the award at an event on 8 January, just prior to the primary Globes ceremony are held, during an event billed by the Golden Globes as the “Golden Eve”.

This will also include the presentation of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for small-screen contributions, the recipient of which remains unannounced. Previous recipients included Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Helen Mirren is a force of nature, and her career is nothing short of extraordinary,” stated the Golden Globes president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her captivating roles and devotion to her art constantly motivate generations of artists and viewers as well. We are deeply honored to award her the DeMille prize.”

Career Highlights

The star rose to fame in the 1970s through significant parts in theater in the West End of London and with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in cinematic works like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

During the nineties, her lead performance in the crime series Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase further. Other key films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a part she returned to in 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan about the meetings with the Queen and prime minister the former PM, a performance for which she earned a Tony during 2015.

• More recent films feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, which she narrated.
• Mirren’s turn in the Netflix version for The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised and awards buzz is increasing around her performance as a terminally ill matriarch in Kate Winslet’s first directing effort, Goodbye June.
• Upcoming, she will appear in the role of Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nominations are set to be revealed December 8, including Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet and Coogler’s Sinners anticipated to be prominent.
