Spoiler alert - This piece discloses details from The Celebrity Traitors finale

Throughout the season, viewers witnessed eliminations, betrayals, serious side-eye, and a memorable moment that cut through all suspense.

Yet on the final evening, the ultimate victor of the first Celebrity Traitors emerged triumphant.

From nineteen participants, just a handful remained: Deceivers and loyal players competing for the winnings.

Before long, the competition tightened to just three: the final players.

Ultimately, funny man Alan Carr emerged as the champion, in a shocking result that broke the internet and made him tearful.

"It's been tearing me apart, I'm so sorry," he declared, revealing to the remaining faithfuls that he was actually a traitor. "I'm an awful human being."

"You played amazingly," they comforted him. "Everything's fine."

Online platforms quickly erupted with the news. "The worst deceiver being the most effective player," commented one user.

"It couldn't have been a more iconic ending," wrote a different person, while a third called it "the TV moment of the year."

The organization he selected, Neuroblastoma UK, will receive the entire winnings, with the total amount reaching £87,500.

Alan Carr's transformation from comic relief to strategic player was one of the standout highlights of the season.

But his win still shocked viewers in shock, as noted by entertainment reporters.

"The thought of him, among everyone, executing an expert performance in deception felt just as probable as him maintaining composure through his comedy routines."

During follow-up conversations, fellow players explained the reasons nobody had ever really suspected him.

"He might have come down to breakfast in traitor attire and I still wouldn't have thought he was a traitor. His humor distracted me," a player said.

"Most people didn't vote for him because how can you eliminate someone who is so charming?" asked another celebrity.

The winner stated he had "thoroughly enjoyed" his experience with the program.

"I want to do it again... I doubt it would be successful a second time!"

The final installment was extended to 70 minutes on television. It had an unusual opening than typical episodes, as every celebrity were aware who'd make it at the breakfast table.

Viewers heard particularly inspiring, and very un-Traitors-esque music, as the episode revisited some moments from every remaining player's experience in the game.

True to form, Alan Carr gave us unforgettable quotes.

"Let's face it, I began this game a bit of an anxious mess. I've betrayed some really good friends to save myself, I've murdered national treasures in plain sight. I'm clearly more deceptive and traitor than I believed."

Meanwhile, another contestant noted that being in the final was "significantly more pressure than playing for England", while another said he was "completely amazed" to have lasted this long.

In the beginning in the episode, various contestants appeared to be making a bid to become the new style icon of the castle, replacing an earlier departed fashionable contestant.

The winner appeared at the morning meal resembling a vintage television personality in patterned burgundy attire, before changing into an embellished light-colored outfit.

But he was out-jacketted by another contestant's burgundy formal wear. What a look.

Following this was the challenge, with the final players getting on board a locomotive called - naturally - The Traitors Express.

The challenge saw them ripping up portraits of eliminated players. Have sympathy for one participant who was hit on the head THREE times by the lid of a substantial container.

Before long, the moment arrived for the elimination discussion.

Two traitors did a pinky promise beforehand, vowing to stick together. "We've progressed significantly, I won't throw him under a bus," stated one, while the other just giggled.

And one did stick to their agreement. Yet, managing to stay under the radar for the majority of the competition, the other still received the majority elimination votes.

The remaining traitor looked like he was in a world of pain to be the last traitor standing. "Being alone, I feel terrified," he said. "I'm a loose cannon, a rudderless ship."

Social media and onlookers were equally disappointed.

"I hoped against that player to be eliminated. An endearing deceiver," said an observer.

"You will forever be remembered in Traitors history," wrote another user.

But there was no time to dwell on this departure. Before long, the game reached the endgame - this being the moment everyone anticipated.

The last players gathered around the ceremonial fire. And the alliance collapsed, precisely when it was most crucial, in an absolutely shocking development.

A player was painfully banished - following a surprising decision from their partner, who turned against them.

"It hurts to be betrayed at the final moment in that manner," remarked the eliminated player. Subsequently, we learned that if they ever communicate, the eliminated contestant refers to the other by a betrayer's name.

Finally, only three contestants remained in the game: the last participants.

A contestant, appearing quite pleased, voted to end the game. So did another, and everything depended on the final participant, who made the identical choice - resulting in the traitor was the winner.

According to commentators, the scene where the other players comforted the champion was "compelling television". "I predict it could be a contender for outstanding scene at next year's awards," they said.

Fortunately, the winner quickly regained composure from his bout of tears, and was able to enjoy his victory.

"What a rollercoaster. I thought I was terrible at deception, I had no poker face and now I stand a winner," the winner said.

And he even joked about that infamous murder - his close ally in an early episode - by leaning toward the presenter in the concluding moments and touching her cheek.

"There's something on your face," he said, with his trademark giggle.

The last few weeks of famous people scheming, plotting and the occasional surprising incidents may seem like a bizarre fantasy. Yet it actually all happen. And we will miss it.
